tick tock

3.11.2012

Time.

Tick, tock, tick, tock.  A couple weeks ago I was convinced the wall in my hostie was ticking because I could hear the clock... but it was nowhere to be found.

Time.

I spent time looking for that clock.  It was driving me crazy.

I heard ticking on the bus a few days later, right after Uncle Garry threw away the clock that didn't work. After roaming around the bus with my ear to everything possible, I discovered the clock.

In the dashboard.

Always ticking.  Oi da.

To God, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.

On tour, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.

It feels as though ages have passed since I woke up in my hostie this morning and had breakfast with her and the girls.

And yet how on earth is it already March?!

Tonight we set the clocks forward and I asked my new hostie, "How can it possibly be time to change the clocks already? I feel like I just watched the ball drop on New Years Eve!" Her answer made me cringe.

"When you get older time seems to go by faster."

Dude.  I know. Kindergarten lasts for 10 years and college lasts for a few months.

Tick, tock, tick, tock.

I took the battery out of the clock in my room last night.  Time stood still.  No ticking.

To God, a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day.

That concept used to blow my mind.  Not anymore.  And my response is this:

Live my life as an act of worship, to the best of my ability, every moment of every day.

Make the most of opportunities; they come and go so quickly.

Keep eternity in my head and my heart.

Live my life where I am.

Follow Christ where he takes me,
walking in His footprints
and not making my own.
